Friday - November 10th - Bonding - Day 9
Ok - so what if my tights are pink and I have pink frills on my top - My boots are pretty cool!!!
In the Pancake House before guys were struck down my mystery bug!!

The hotel dining-room was packed this morning – a lot of businessmen and women around so breakfast was more substantial – Tried semolina rice stuff, egg something or other, frankfurter, and sliced cheese and bread rolls. They always have some tiny pastries also, which of course is unusual to have at breakfast but will try anything…. Nice! Was only Sue and myself for breakfast – old diehards! The others have fallen away gradually!!! Declan is still not feeling 100% but is much better..
It was great to get to talk to home last night. Mum & Dad assured us that all is going fine, Elena and Mum are great friends and they are all happy in their routine. We used up the whole 5000 tenge phone card but it was worth it!! Elena just talked for a few minutes to tell us that she was going to Martina’s house tomorrow for the weekend. Can’t believe that we are starting our second weekend here – not that the time is going really fast or anything but we are nicely settled in our routine and it is great to have the others to chill out with in the evening. We have not gone out too much in the last two evenings with all the sick men!!! Apart from the supermarket and clothes shopping that Aine and I went on yesterday.
Which reminds me I brought in the dungarees and top and shoes today and tried them on Alex – Could not believe that they fit him perfectly – it says 72cm and he is only 64cm. The sleeves are perfect in the top but of course the little boots are too big but that is good – maybe he will wear them when he starts walking!!
Again it was too cold to go out but we had a very good visit in the afternoon. Nancy & Darren came for their last visit with Tolia. They had court this morning and all went well – all over within a half an hour. They fly to Almaty tomorrow morning and then on to New Mexico.
There are a lot of families here – mostly American and we got to talk to them over breakfast this morning. One couple from Texas have their 9yr old daughter and 8yr old son with them and they are not allowed in to the Baby Home so have to stay in the hotel with their grandmother. That is a real bummer for them and funny because another family are bringing their little 6yr old daughter in with them – no problem. Think they make up the rules as they go along! I think personally our kids are so much better in their own routine if that is an option but for some of course it is not!
Tonight we decided to go out and went to the pancake house - again!!!! Afterwards we decided to try the bar in the hotel for a glass of wine. They seem to sell it by the bottle and at 6000/7000 tenge a bottle we decided to go with their own drink and try the vodka. They looked at us funny when we asked for orange juice to put with it. She had filled out little shot glasses!!! Not ready for that yet!!! Not conducive to bonding the following morning!!! For 760 tenge (about 3.50 euros) we got 3 vodka and 4 large orange juice – and it went down a treat!
