Saturday - 11th November 2006 - Bonding - Day 10
Beautiful Aida (Ruth) being adopted to the U.S. by Cathy & Brent
Beautiful Damir (Daniel) heading to London with Sue
Beautiful Lyssa watching Sasha being fed by DadIt’s the weekend again and all is well in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Now, if we could only get to tell people that everything would be fine. But… once again spent most of our lunchtime in Pizza Blue, trying to access the internet but had no luck – Was able to get online on Sue’s computer later but then I think it just gave up and we had to admit defeat.
Met Cathy & Brent in the Pizza Blue and they said they have managed to find a shop where we can get a card that will allow us to access the internet from our hotel room. It will of course be a dial-up connection but that will be great – Might get my blog up-and-running!! We will check into that.
On our morning visit today I was so tired – maybe the whole trip has caught up with me but I just needed my bed and had no energy. But…. I battled on and was much better in the afternoon…Did my share of the bonding then as Declan was on duty most of the morning. In the afternoon we got to feed Alex for the second time. The older little guys were feeding. Their one little dia-votch-ka (girl) was so cute. She was still sitting at her table whereas all the boys were back in playing with rings and little Lyssa kept coming over to me for a hug. She has an older brother here and is not available for adoption.
Only 50% of the children in the Baby House are available for adoption. This time of year a lot of the men are laid off from their work for the winter and cannot afford to feed their families so it is not unusual for them to leave their children in the Babies/Children’s Homes, continue to visit them and take them out when things improve in the spring – Very sad but they are extremely well-cared for here..
As the economy gets better here all the time more and more Kazakhs are adopting the babies and children here.

Hello Declan and Adrienne. We hope youz are well and ready for the birthday celebration tomorrow what a nice b-present has arrived by delayed stork delivery! ALEX is a beautiful child and youz deserve each other. Everybody who has seen the pictures has oohed when they saw him. I met BILL at mass today and he said he'll have him helping with the saw in no time... The two girls are very chuffed as well... ELENA argues that ALEX is her little brother while DARRELLE argues that they both have to share him. any how everybody is so very happy at the outcome and why not!
Nothing much to relate The JONES'S go away tomorrow and they were a great support for us STANLEY and I had two 4-balls in woodstock and we hope to play there again tomorrow(early bird) Liam was on too and he mentioned GOLF for someday soon but I don't feel right about putting him to expense like that. We'll see.
